We regularly take requests from our members for new patterns. Whilst some of these patterns are from our extensive library of flies, others are patterns which customers are struggling to get hold of elsewhere and yet others have been developed by fly fishermen who no longer wish to tie the fly themselves.
These new patterns often prove to be very popular, they may be unique, a variation of an existing pattern and some are even rare but we have realised that it is not always obvious they are now available. That is why we have decided to create a detailed list of new patterns which we have stocked for the very first time.
This is our previous year’s list of new patterns. You can view our current year so far. Unlike other retailers, we respond dynamically to your requests, so new patterns are gradually introduced throughout the year. Make sure you revisit regularly so that you don’t miss any gems!
All patterns in this section are shown regardless of their status; some may have already sold out, but like all our flies, if you can't buy them now you can always request more to be made up!
Stimulators
If there's anything which gets fish excited, and secretly most fisherman, it's a well tied bushy stimulator. We love these two new patterns which we made up this year, both of which have jumped straight into our top seller list!
Winged Patterns
When you think of fly fishing patterns, winged flies tend to spring to mind and we are pleased to have added some fantastic patterns. We particularly love the Rat Faced McDougall, and the Green Peter / Invicta; but they are brand new patterns at time of writing, so please help us get these patterns up into our Top 10 chart this year!
Terrestrials, Caddis and Larva
We love the artistic aspect of fly fishing patterns, and the Trout Frog is one of those patterns that we are proud to produce. In the true fly fishing spirt of mimicking what's 'in, on and around' the water, a frog really captures this to its full degree, and we think this pattern is brilliant at looking the part!
Mayflies
Our Mayfly range extended again with some more stunning patterns. We especially love the new Drake Mayflies, and the Para was an immediate sell out.
Damsels
Mayflies don't hatch on every water, so if there are none about Damsels can take their place. We extended our range with some interesting and well-made patterns, so be sure to give them a go and let us know how you get on and what you think!
Daddies
In September 2017 we launched the successful Drunken Daddy range in time for some autumn fishing. We've had great feedback so far and think they will be a growing hit in future years as the word spreads.
Buzzers
These two new Buzzers are made in a style which we have never produced before. They make a great addition to our range of flies, so give them a try and let us know how they perform.
Hackled
A couple of requests from our members introduced these varients; simple but effective.
Streamers
Another member requested this Whisky fly; it looks like a great attractor, but it has slipped under the radar this winter. Well worth a try, and we'd be grateful of any feedback!
Diawl Bach
We have an extensive range of Diawl Bach flies, and have managed to extend this by an extra 3.
CDC's
We have a loyal following for Cul-de-Canard patterns and this year we managed to increase our range by a third!
Boobies
There are so many booby patterns around that they often come and go. Fly fishermen tend to love to experiment with this range, so feel free to send any new suggestions our way.
Salmon
Salmon fishing seemed to have had a slight increase during 2017, with better catch rates than in the past few years. Let us hope that this is not just a blip but instead things are finally turning a corner and salmon stocks are beginning to recover. The new patterns include some classics and some gimmicks - you've got to love the ingenious Chernobyl ant!
Sea Trout
Last year we managed to extend our Sea Trout range by another couple of patterns. If you want to see some more new patterns then please make some suggestions.
Saltwater Patterns
By request we have extended our saltwater collection another few patterns. We would love to hear from anyone interested in saltwater fishing and what patterns you would like to see in future years.
Display Flies and Broaches
Finally as the year came to a close, we introduced some more products suitable as gifts. Our fully dressed salmon flies make a stunning display piece on any mantle or 'man den', and we now offer wearable broaches for those fly fishing enthusiasts who want to wear it proud.
