About the Houghton Ruby Trout Fly
The Houghton Ruby is an admirable imitation of the female iron blue spinner, a prime example of William Lunn's art in dressing a fly that has stood the test of time.
Anglers who have the opportuntity to cast a dry line on a chalkstream over the last 80 years or so are very seldom without this fly in their flybox.
Expert Tip:
When William Lunn retired as the River Test's river keeper, he tied and sold his Houghton Rubys for four Shillings (20p or 32 cents) per dozen.
