About the Alexandra Trout Fly
The Alexandra, or Lady of the Lake, as it was then called, was created some time around 1860. It was re-named in honour of Princess Alexandra and was such a popular and successful pattern that its use was banned on some waters.
It is a very effective pattern that has been successfully bringing fish to the net for over 150 years.
Expert Tip:
Great in Scottish Lochs, such as Loch Earn where Brown trout and Rainbows are stocked.

This is by far my favourite fly. Fished on a floating line with slow figure of eight retrieve it picksup Rainbows anywhere. I have also had a few good brown trout with this fly. Also tied larger it is great for Sea Trout. - 5 out of 5 Stars by Kyle on 11/04/2010
