About the Elwyn's Woolly Bugger Trout Fly
Elwyn's Woolly Bugger is a very reliable searching pattern and has proved to be one of the most versatile and productive lure flies.
Although more often fished close to the bottom, it can be fished anywhere in the water column. It is unweighted and therefore has a more seductive movement than heavily weighted lures. If you need to get it down use a use a sinking leader, a sinking tip line, or a full sinking line.
Expert Tip:
In his younger days Elwyn excelled in the physical challenge of rugby and succumbed to the gentler allure of fly fishing later in life. He and those in the know, brought many, many trout to the net using this simple pattern.
