Top Ten Flies March 2022

Spring is officially here at last! Many waters which closed over winter have now restocked and begun opening for the Trout season ahead.

If venturing out over the next few weeks, our top ten chart is full of patterns suitable for early spring, with Nymphs and Lures being the go-to patterns. The water temperature is still cold at present, which keeps plenty of oxygen in the water enabling more lively chases and takes.

The most popular type of pattern is the Gold Ribbed Hare’s Ear, with and without a Gold Head in 1st and 4th position respectively; having both patterns in your arsenal of flies will enable you to fish the correct depth that you wish to target.

In terms of Lures, there are a nice selection in this chart to bring on the chase, but our personal favourite has been our new snake design, making an appearance with the Orange Snake in 8th position; already proving to be much more effective than our previous design.
