About the Coch-y-bondhu Trout Fly
As a beetle imitation, the Cock-y-bondhu is certainly one of the most successful. Although primarily a summer fly it can be successful all season and is a must for the wild trout.
It is one of the earliest flies created, and is a simple working pattern that has been a fixture in fly boxes for over 100 years.

Cock-y-bondhu dates back to the 1700s. Its name is Welsh for 'red with black trunk'.
